ABOUT ASHLEY

Ashley grew up in Lincoln Nebraska dancing and competing at True Dance Academy. She attended the University of Arizona on a Regents’ Fine Arts scholarship in the fall of 2009 where she trained under Melissa Lowe, Sam Watson, Michael Williams, Susan Williams, Amy Ernst, Elizabeth George, and James Clouser. Ashley was selected to perform at UofA in a Chicago Melody that was reset and restaged by Ann Rienking in the early spring of 2012 just before receiving her BFA in Dance later that year in May. That same year she joined the cast of the Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil. She danced with that show for almost 6 years performing the roles of the Daytripper, Something Girl, “Yesterday” (dance duet couple), Little Darling (featured dance solo), and was understudy to the character role of Eleanor Rigby. Since becoming part of Cirque du Soleil she has trained in harness work, bungee, and aerial. In March 2013 She was featured in ATB’s music video “When it ends it begins again” where she portrayed the main character who was a girl finding her inner strength and self worth. She participated in Broadway Bares Las Vegas where she performed with other Cirque du Soleil Artists to raise money and bring awareness to the foundation Broadway Cares. She was named Dance Captain in 2015 and worked along side Katy Tate the Dance Master at LOVE. In 2016 at LOVE she was apart of the “refresh” and debut of the new version of the show in July. In December 2016 she received her Classical Pilates Certification and  in June of 2017 Ashley joined the cast of Micheal Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil and took on the role of an MJ Warrior. She can be seen wearing an Emerald green wig and lots of white and rhinestones. Since moving to Las Vegas in 2012 she has kept busy with resident shows but also performed in Cirque du Soleil’s One Night for One Drop charity show in March 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 where she had the opportunity to work with choreographers like Mukhtar Omar Sharif Mukhtar, Sonya Tayeh, Andre Kasten, and Leah Moyer. She also has enjoyed assisting Cirque with its outreach classes at the Dance Awards during the summers (2015-2017). She truly believes that training, studying different styles, and hard work is all apart of chasing your dream to be a performer. She hopes to share her experience and love for dance with her students and leave them wanting more!

TEACHING
 PHILOSOPHY

I believe that hard work is just as important if not more than drive or talent. You have to put in the work to master movement. It is also the teachers job to inspire, encourage, and lead by example to their students. I strive to bring all of this into my classes! Class is not about the iconic video you get for social. It is about feeling improvement… no matter how big or small that may be. Not to mention always a proper warmup. I teach that technique is the foundation… the bread and butter and the style is what you add like the cherry on top.

“Dance is a universal language that is open to interpretation. I believe it is the most vulnerable form of art because of the imperfection in the search for perfection.”
